Makar Sankranti is a day when wind changes direction, am not sure about other countries, but, in India, this day marks a marked shift in direction of wind. There is absolutely NO breeze on this day and slowly as the day progress one may get to witness shift in wind directions.
The season begins to change from winter to slow and gradual shift towards equinox and then summer.
Astrologically, the zodiac of Capricorn is known as Makara in Vedic literature. Makara means a Crocodile. The symbol of Makara is the half crocodile and half human being.
Capricorn has once again three Nakshatras – the Uttara Shada, Shravana and Dhanishta. Of the Uttara Shada Nakshatra, one limb or quarter is in previous zodiac of Sagittarius and the balance three limbs are in Capricorn.
Between Uttara Shada and Shravana, a very special and elusive Nakshatra is carved out – the intercalary Abhijit Nakshatra. Abhijit is the ONLY male among Nakshatras and generally not used in Vedic Astrology for predictive techniques.
Abhijit is the ONLY Nakshatra whose presiding deity is Lord Narayana himself. When Sun transits thru this Nakshatra, it is the REAL Uttarayana. This transit will happen around 22nd of this month.
Many of my Jyotish Guru’s have persuaded me NOT to use Abhijit in predictions, exceot for last two Guru’s. Both of them have left a legacy of personalized scribbled notes on Abhijit. Some of them could not be validated by me, some I had to modify or do my own research.
Abhijit starts from 6:40 Capricorn and ends at 10:53:20 Capricorn. Surprisingly Abhijit too has four Pada’s like every other Nakshatra and they too have their unique qualities about them.
My research tells me about unique qualities of not just Sun or Moon in Abhijit, but, ALL of the planets transiting thru Abhijit leave their indellible mark on human lives.
So, what is my research on Abhijit heading? In all humility I must say that I know of Abhijit ONLY those qualities that Lord Narayana himself wishes to reveal. There is lot of work left to be done. Hint: Abhijit has its own Dasa system which in a way resonates with the Maha yuga and sub yuga cycle
This year, when Sun transits thru Abhijit, the celestial dancer Venus will also be in this Nakshatra.
